A New Model for Fall Baseball

A New Model for Fall Baseball - professional instruction plus games!

TPLL, in conjunction with Linedrive, have created an innovative development program to focus on baseball skills. Players will then incorporate the skills from the professionally coached training into games against other players from TPLL. All training and games are on Sundays allowing for flexibility with other sports and activities.

Key elements of our Developmental Model:

1. Professionally coached training sessions every other Sunday at Strawberry Fields, incorporating an age- and ability-appropriate, baseball skill curriculum. Our curriculum will include games, drills and fun. This is NOT a large clinic. 15 players maximum will be on the field during training sessions with 2 coaches from Linedrive and 2 volunteers from TPLL. We are targeting a player to coach ratio of 5:1. This will be very hands on and focused on building baseball skills.

2. Games every other Sunday played against other TPLL teams. For the incoming Double A players, games will include an element of coach pitch in an effort to eliminate the "walk-a-thon" and slow play that usually accompanies new pitchers as they develop. Score will still be kept and the competition will be real, however, no batter will walk as a coach will step in to throw strikes when/if the pitcher struggles.

3. To improve player development and satisfaction we are limiting the number of spots available for Fall Ball. 45 spots are available for Double A, 45 spots are available for Minors and 25 spots are available for Majors. Please sign up early to secure your spot!

4. TPLL coaches will be used at the weekend training sessions and will be better equipped to help instruct the players in the game situations.

Format

Double A, Minors and Majors will have 4 training sessions and 4 games over the 8 week program. Training and games will alternate every other Sunday. Players will be assigned to a training group and also assigned to a team. The training group and the team may consist of different groups of players.

Fall Ball Leagues and Appropriate Ages

Double A (kid pitch) – For the player who has finished 1 year of Rookie Minors (pitching machine) and will be moving up to Double A in Spring 2016.

Minors – For the player who has completed 1 year of Double A or 1 year of Minors

Majors – For the player who has completed 2 years of Minors or 1 year of Majors.

Sunday Training Program

Weekend training will emphasize technical and fundamental skills. Pitching, hitting, fielding and base-running as well as age-appropriate decision-making. There will be a strong emphasis on individual player development.

Practice Duration: 1.5 hours
Training Dates: 9/13, 9/27, 10/11 and 10/25

Sunday Games

Teams will be created in advance and played vs. other TPLL teams ONLY on TPLL fields. Teams will be pre-selected (no buddy requests) in an effort to create balance and competition.

A group of pre-identified Parent Volunteer Coaches will manage the games. We highly encourage all coaches who intend to coach in the Spring of 2016 to attend the training sessions and to coach a team.

Game Dates: 9/20, 10/4, 10/18, 11/1
Game Location: Strawberry Minors and Majors Field
