Pitch Count Rules

Little League Baseball implemented a new pitch-count rule in order to reduce wear and tear on youngsters' arms. TPLL strictly adheres to this rule in order to protect the young arms of our players.

There is a maximum number of pitches one pitcher can throw in a game, as well as the total number of pitches thrown determine how long that player must rest before returning to the mound. Rest requirements change according to the number of pitches thrown.

Maximum pitch count restrictions, by league age:

  • For pitchers 17-18: 105 pitches
  • For pitchers 13-16: 95 pitches
  • For pitchers 11-12: 85 pitches
  • For pitchers 9-10: 75 pitches
  • For pitchers 7-8: 50 pitches

Additionally, pitchers league ages 7 through 14 must adhere to the following rest requirements:

  • If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.
  • If a player pitches 51-65 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.
  • If a player pitches 36-50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.
  • If a player pitches 21-35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar day of rest must be observed.
  • If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no calendar day of rest is required before pitching again.
